Merdeka Stadium was initially the venue for the excitement and razzmatazz that signifies Selangor football but Selangor decided that it was time for their very own home and the construction of a stadium on prime real estate in Shah Alam began in earnest.

Admittedly this stadium was an expensive investment but Selangor saw it as their home ground, their natural habitat, the place that was easily identifiable as theirs. The fans seem delighted with this opportunity to be able to cheer on their team within the boundaries of their home territory, and with a seating capacity of 80,000, the fans can truly turn out in force to add their vocal support to the proceedings.
